YOUR GOOD NEWS: Mr. Central Florida contest raises $413,000 for Speech & Hearing Center

The Central Florida Speech & Hearing Center’s 10th annual Mr. Central Florida presentation event, sponsored by The Ruthvens, was held Oct. 29 at Bonnet Springs Park. This year’s event raised $413,700, which will go directly toward helping men, women and children achieve better communication with the world around them. Each Mr. Central Florida candidate raised funds through individual efforts that included sponsorships and events such as a golf scramble, a clay shoot, a private fishing trip, a special “casino” night and other peer-to-peer fundraising efforts. Brant Masters, Southern Homes, raised $92,355. Jake Schner, The Ruthvens, came in second place and Steve Mitchell, Easy Homes 123, placed third. Ryder Wilson, a student at George Jenkins High School, received the President’s Award for his personal achievement made while attending high school.
