Lakeland, FL (May 1, 2022) – Central Florida Speech & Hearing Center is pleased to announce it has received a $18,700 grant from the George W. Jenkins Fund within the GiveWell Community Foundation. These funds will support the Center’s purchase of equipment critical to providing pediatric and newborn screenings.
Hearing loss is one of the most common birth defects in the U.S. and ear infections are the most frequently diagnosed disease in young children. Early intervention for hearing difficulties and ear health is critical to a child’s communication, education, social development and overall health. Central Florida Speech & Hearing Center is one of two facilities in Polk County to test newborns outside hospitals and also receives frequent pediatric referrals for ear health disorders. Testing children is a specialty service requiring experts and specific equipment
Central Florida Speech & Hearing Center serves as a beacon for those struggling to communicate and we are thrilled that the George W. Jenkins Fund within the GiveWell Community Foundation has joined on our mission to provide children with the quality care they need to communicate effectively.
